EXPORT, PENNSYLVANIA - AMI DODUCO has completed the expansion of its Westmoreland manufacturing site in Export, Pennsylvania. An additional 23,000 square feet of manufacturing and storage space was added to the plant, which produces electrical contact tips and assemblies for use in a variety of industrial control devices and circuit breakers. The expansion enabled the consolidation of manufacturing operations from the company’s former plant in nearby Delmont, Pennsylvania, and the optimization of manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency.
The Westmoreland plant boasts an impressive array of capabilities. It houses a silver powder production line believed to be the largest of its kind in the world. This powder is used for in-house production of electrical contacts. The plant also has a full range of contact attachment technology, including continuous brazing of contact strip material with advanced in-line quality control technology as well as electron beam welding. The facility’s production processes are supported by state of the art, award-winning environmental controls.
“The Westmoreland facility has been an important part of AMI DODUCO since it was established in 1991,” said Albert Thorp, III, Chief Executive Officer of AMI DODUCO. “We are excited to expand both its size and capabilities. It now ranks as one of the largest electrical contact manufacturing sites in North America.”
“This plant expansion will help us to increase customer satisfaction and lower costs,” Thorp said. “We intend to further reduce our manufacturing cycle time by reorganizing the production flow within the Export plant and by combining the related production processes of our Delmont plant. We have also reduced overhead expenses in both personnel and infrastructure. Most importantly, we are able to achieve long term synergy by combining the talented workforces from both plants.”
